During the trip we provided various physiotherapy services, engaged the kids in a game of football and spoke to school children about career pathways. My personal favourite was putting my hands to some practical DIY to help construct decks, paint houses and doing some demolition. I now know not to go running along the beach in NT as crocodiles really do inhabit the waters!!
One of my main objectives was to be significant in the lives of others, to realise how fortunate we are and therefore the responsibility we have in helping those less fortunate. I did this by overwhelming the volunteers and staff who work in this very remote community with love, appreciation, acknowledgement, encouragement and support. To help them feel significant – that what they are doing is of great significance, highly valued, and to inspire them to keep it up!”
